The Short Film

Here’s our film:

I’m fairly happy with the outcome, but the animation could and should have been better in many places. Starting late with animation does things like that. But it’s the best film I’ve worked on so far…

We’ve just finished with the “making of” as well, giving people a small peek into our production process.

Even though it’s meant for the teacher and sensor, I really want to include this on the final dvd.

Now I just have to evaluate myself and look through my blog to see if I can improve on some of the posts.

Lots and lots of thanks and praise to the team for doing a great job on this film!

I’m sorry…

I really feel bad about my self. Like rotten on the inside. A bitch etc.

I’ve sunk into a hole of deceit that I truly despise. For what it’s worth I’m really really sorry.

The previous blogpost might have seemed a bit harsh, but being tired can do that.

Not that it is a good excuse though

It might seem like I’m hiding behind my blogposts, but it’s when I write that the words from my heart really can be spilled out. In short: I’m not very good at verbal communication.

The previous cut was not terrible, but we felt that work could be done on it. And I KNOW you’ve worked hard on it. And I’m not saying that we’re any better than you in any way. None of us are editors after all. But when we were two people in the same room, we could criticize each others decisions on the fly.

I showed the cut to a friend and got almost no reactions and panicked.

We couldn’t have made this film without you, and I appreciate the work you’ve done on this film.

I don’t expect you to forgive me, but just let me tell you AGAIN: I’m sorry!

Done and done!

Ok, so we just finished our short film and I’m ready to finally relax after all this stress.

I had to go to Michael’s home in Asker yesterday, to finish the editing and sound. The reason was because I didn’t see the “final cut” until very late, and saw that it didn’t turn out like I hoped it would. Changes had been done that didn’t work and such.

Deadline

Ok, the deadline for our film is Monday 1. June.

All animation is done (after som very VERY VERY hard work). Compositing is soon finished. We’ve put the shots together and the sound is there, except for the music.

Animation!

A still from an animation I did, with Michael’s amazing render and compositing magic added .

It’s been a while since I updated this blog, reason is because I haven’t had the time to do so.

Oh Glorious Previz, thou casteth such radiating beauty. Surely thou hath used the finest of cosmetics?

After a lot of feedback to our presentation, we started to think a bit more about the suggestions. Keeping some, but decided to throw the other comments away.

Previz, oh how much I hate thee!

So, this is a mandatory blog post… Which I’m feeling forced to write. I just want to sleep and rest.
I think I’m just going to vent my frustrations here.

The Bat-Man

As I was working on the texture for the robot, I started to see a picture taking shape.

It became a speed painting of one of my favorite comic book characters, made using a mouse, photoshop and some brushes(.zip-file from http://psbrushes.net) from the net.

The style ended up looking a bit like Frank Miller’s.

Fun, fun, fun.

Texturing some more…

After some feedback on the robot, with the criticism focusing on how small the robot looks like, I started to work on the textures. This means the rigging post part two will come later.

The Rig

I have been working on the rig and I’m going to share the process with you here.

There was really no question that I should rig the character, using the body parts as bones.
